Personal Self Care

Personal self-care is another type of self-care introduced in our series.  This particular self-care is fun for me to support clients in therapy.

Definition: Personal self-care involves practices people use to connect with themselves through self-discovery, exploration of interests, and understanding who they are.

Examples

  • Regularly participate in hobbies and activities that bring happiness and fulfillment.

  • Explore new hobbies or activities.

  • Take personality tests and assessments to gain insight into who you are. Here are a few reputable sites that offer free personality assessments that I use with clients: 16 Personalities and Truity.

  • Participate in therapy or certified life coaching

  • Regularly use reflective journaling.

  • Making time for fun and leisure.

  • Make a vision board.

  • Set and accomplish short- and long-term goals.

  • Track your progress and growth as a person.

  • Practice gratitude and self-compassion.

  • Travel to new places or your favorite places.

  • Engaging in self-care practices that are specific to your personality types. Ideas for Introverts and Extroverts.

  • Identify your strengths and values.

  • Be intentional about honoring your values daily.
