Social Self Care

Social Self-care is very important to a person’s well-being.  Whether you’re an introvert, extrovert, or somewhere in between, every person needs healthy human connections and relationships.  We all need a support system of people who support us throughout our lives.

Definition: Social self-care consists of activities that help to build and nurture relationships.

Examples

  • Be present when you’re with someone. Limit distractions.

  • Schedule regular dates with your significant other.

  • Go to brunch with friends.

  • Honor your commitment to other people.

  • Asking for help when you need it.

  • Participate in safe social activities that create opportunities to meet new people.

  • Limit access to people who dishonor your boundaries, drain you, or treat you unkindly.

  • Schedule time for social activities and connecting with others.

  • Be intentional about reaching out to friends and family.

  • Be curious about the lives of those around you.
