Mental/Psychological self-care is just as important as physical healthcare because it impacts our quality of life. Mental self-care helps to keep our brains and minds sharp and well. Improving our mental well-being helps with self-esteem.

Definition: Mental self-care consists of practices that promote and improve a person's ability to think, process, understand, and information healthily.

Examples

  • Learn a new skill or language

  • Write - guided journaling, stream of consciousness, etc.

  • Read or listen to a new book or podcast

  • Take a class that stimulates your mind

  • Work on a brainteaser, crossword, puzzle, etc.

  • Practice mindfulness

  • Detox from social media

  • Meditate
