Recommendation: Atomic Habits

While theories have changed and evolved over time, self-help books focused on changing behaviors through creating new habits have been a bookstore staple for decades. In Atomic Habits, author James Clear accomplishes the feat of providing an innovative approach to this familiar genre.

While self-help books focused on the topic of creating new habits and changing behavior have been a bookstore staple for decades, theories have changed and evolved over time. In Atomic Habits, author James Clear accomplishes a great new approach through practical understanding and implementation. While providing great insights into the psychology behind our habits and behaviors, Clear outlines the common challenges, blocking thought patterns, and inconsistencies that derail the creation of new habits. He normalizes the struggle for change and provides various hacks and practical tools to make the habits you want for your life attainable.

I highly recommend this book as a supportive resource to both understand current patterns and habits and the steps to make real change where you want to see growth and improvement in your life.

Thoughts from our CEO:

“To me, Atomic Habits is The Power of Habit repackaged and more tactical, less philosophical storytelling (still storytelling but just overall less). I liked them both! For Atomic Habits specifically, I really appreciate the directness and bite-sized lessons.” -Rachel Edenfield, CEO of Swell

If you think you might be interested but are not ready to commit to buying the book, I recommend a podcast summary! James Clear made a two part appearance on Dr. Brené Brown’s podcast, Unlocking Us, during which he gives a great overview of the book.
